You know me so intimately, Lord… every hair on my head, every cell in my body, even my innermost thoughts. But compared to Your all-encompassing knowledge about me, I know so little about You…
Maybe this is why some people are tempted to give up the sacred quest? Because You are unknowable in Your entirety, perhaps they don’t want to be in a position of child-like faith, or to have the humble acceptance that Your mysteries are just the ordered way of things…
Still, I would like to have a personal, heart-to-heart relationship with You. Like St. John, the beloved disciple, resting on Your chest (John 21:20) or our Blessed Mother carrying You in her womb for nine months and wanting to die with You at Calvary. It can be hidden, like how You learned to be a carpenter and a man from St. Joseph, and how You united Yourself with so many other saints throughout history.
Lord, You are the One Who makes it possible to be close to divinity, so I ask for the gift of Your most holy friendship to purify, guide, and mold me. Your vision for my life is more important, wiser, and bears the only fruit that will last. Let Your voice be ever in my heart, lest I stumble or forsake You.
